London Takes the Crown but the United States Dominates the Top Ten Colocation Data Center Markets in the World

Five US cities made the cut for the most dense and connected data center markets in the world as part of Cloudscene's 2017 Global Top 10 Colocation Ecosystems.With more than 5,500 data centers and 4,500+ service providers listed across 110 countries, Cloudscene dove head first into its global market data to uncover the standout regions when it comes to both data center density and connectivity.The United States is by far the largest data center market in the world, so it was no surprise that five US cities made the cut for Cloudscene's 2017 Global Top 10 Colocation Ecosystems. However, it was Europe that dominated the top three spots and Sydney made an appearance at number eight thanks to Australia’s considerable growth over the last three years.The 2017 Global Top 10 Colocation Ecosystems:

Interestingly, the only global service providers that operate in all ten of the above ecosystems are Equinix, Digital Realty and Verizon. And with Verizon agreeing to sell majority of its data center business to Equinix for a cool US $3.6bn in cash this year, we can expect to see this shrink to just Equinix and Digital Realty. A particularly dominant place for both companies.With 2,091 colocation data centers, 1,641 cloud service providers and 44 network fabrics at the time of publishing; the United States dominates based on size and connectivity.
